inBloom describes itself as "a nonprofit organization working to make personalized learning a reality for every U.S. student by improving the effectiveness, variety and affordability of education technology". They are focused on bringing together student data, content and applications to support personalized learning.Their initial funding came from the Gates Foundation and the Carnegie Corporation. 

Learning Resource Metadata Initiative

The Learning Resource Metadata Initiative has developed a common metadata framework for describing or “tagging” learning resources on the web. If adopted, this could make locating education resources based on content, standard and type much easier through standard search engines such as Google.
